What Are Your Options? 2 Tattoo Removal Methods
Plasma Pen Tattoo Removal
Utilising a Plasma Pen for tattoo removal is our favourite method. The pen produces plasma waves directed at the collagen-producing cells in the skin, called fibroblasts. The ink is removed from the skin and healing is kick-started by the skin ‘senses’ the damage and producing new collagen. This method typically removes the tattoo in 1 to 3 sessions.
At Mel’s Skin Clinic this is our preferred method of tattoo removal as it is very effective, fast and less painful than the other methods.
Laser Tattoo Removal
A laser that produces pulses of light energy is directed at the tattoo whereby the energy that is produced by the laser penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the tattoo ink. As the tattoo ink particles absorb the energy, they heat up and then shatter into tiny fragments that are removed by the bloodstream.
At our skin clinic we typically opt for this method to remove permanent make-up and smaller ‘blow-out’ sections of existing tattoos.

Our preferred method for tattoo removal is the plasma pen which is preceded by a 45 minute period where a strong numbing cream is applied to the area. This results in the procedure being virtually painless.
Even if you are searching for ‘tattoo removal near me’, finding a good, reliable expert might not be in your area. But consider the fact that choosing a real expert might be worth a little bit of a drive!
After-care Instructions
To achieve the best results possible we provide you with aftercare instructions that you must follow diligently. Once the scabs come off we will also ask you to come into the salon again so we can ‘strap’ the area to minimise the possibility of keloid formation. Click here for the after-care instructions.
